Neelum Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in Azad Kashmir — a long, winding valley along the Neelum River, lined with pine forests, waterfalls, green meadows and traditional wooden villages.
The road follows the river from Muzaffarabad through Kutton, Keran and Sharda to Kel and Taobat at the end of the valley. Along the way you'll find riverside stays, the ancient ruins of Sharda Peeth and the hilltop meadows of Arang Kel, with side trips to Ratti Gali Lake and Shounter in summer.

Keran
Riverside village on the Neelum River, with forests and mountain views across the valley.
Kutton & Jagran Valley
Waterfalls, clear streams and pine forests — a favourite family stop.
Sharda
Historic town with the ruins of the ancient Sharda Peeth and riverside viewpoints.
Arang Kel
Hilltop meadow village above Kel, reached by chairlift or a short hike.
Ratti Gali Lake

Taobat
The last village of the valley, known for its wooden houses and quiet river scenery.
Best Time to Visit Neelum Valley
Spring greenery in the lower valley. Higher spots such as Arang Kel and Ratti Gali may still be under snow.
Peak season. All roads are open, including the jeep tracks to Ratti Gali Lake and Shounter.
Autumn colours, clear skies and fewer crowds. Nights get cold, so pack warm layers.
Heavy snow in the upper valley and roads beyond Sharda can close. The lower valley stays accessible.
